About Me, Ing. Maria Sevastre

Though trained in engineering, my passion for art began 16 years ago, inspired by a painter who saw my potential. Now in the Czech Republic, my abstract paintings reach homes in Romania, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and the USA.
I express emotions through vibrant colors and dynamic compositions, drawing inspiration from artists like Pollock, Van Gogh, and Klimt. Recently, I’ve incorporated Enso Japanese circles and runes into my work, exploring themes of balance and harmony while enriching the narrative.
Painting allows me to immerse myself in creation, with imagination unlocking endless possibilities.
As Roosevelt said “Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort” and my art embodies this belief.

Abstract art is a unique language, interpreted and felt differently by each observer, enriching the viewer's experience. I have studied the techniques of renowned contemporary artists such as Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Dali, Picasso, Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, and the provocative abstract expressionist Jackson Pollock—my personal favorite—for his commitment to expressing emotions rather than merely illustrating them. The beauty of the art I create lies in the absence of a singular technique; instead, I have developed a diverse repertoire over the years. Each style and method I embrace adds a unique flavor to my work, allowing me to express my emotions and ideas in ever-evolving ways.
This artistic versatility not only reflects my journey and growth as an artist but also invites viewers to experience a dynamic interplay of colors, forms, and techniques, making each piece a unique exploration of creativity.

Later on, I discovered and embraced a captivating new technique that I have woven into many of my paintings: the Enso Japanese circles and runes. This powerful art form embodies the essence of simplicity and completeness, allowing me to explore themes of balance and harmony, while adding a layer of depth and symbolism to my creative expression. By incorporating these elements, I invite viewers to engage not just with the visual experience, but also with the rich cultural narratives that inspire and enrich my art.

With consideration, Ing. Maria Sevastre
